The Mango Season has begun

Fruiting season for the mango trees has begun.  Fertilized the trees with a balanced NPK mix of 10:10:10 earlier.  The amount of fertilizer use depends on the age and size of the trees.  The pellet fertilizer was spread out a foot away from the tree trunk till the drip line where the tree roots will be.

Had gastroscope and colonoscope today as a day case.

Preparation for the procedure started on Friday.  Did the required blood tests and RTK COVID test in the early morning.

Did not take any solid food for the day till the time of scopes the next morning.  Bowel preparation started at 4 pm with Casen Phospho Soda oral solution mixed with a full glass of water.  Followed by 1 sachet of Fortrans in 1 litre of water to be drunk over 1 1/2 hours.  After the first, another sachet of Fortrans in another 1 litre of water was drunk.  The whole 2 litres were drank up by 8 pm.  Very soon after the 4 pm the "purge" began.  Was pretty happy with the results as the bowel lavage content was becoming much clearer denoting good large bowel clearance.

The up and down scopes were done by Dr Yeap with ease.  I was given an injection of Dormicum 3 mg before the procedure as a mild sedative.

Before the colonoscope one has to wear a trouser with a fair sized hole showing the peri-anal area.  One can continue to wear one's own shirt or T shirt.

I shall review the video recordings of the procedures tonight.

Gastroscopy and colonoscopy procedures are pretty easily performed nowadays without much discomfort.

Predestination and Election

Summary of my thoughts yesterday during a Christian meeting.

Mankind was predestined to be with God before the Creation to have a deep relationship with Him, to praise and worship Him.

The Fall separated Him from mankind.  He chose the people of Israel to lead and to re-establish the relationship with Him, within the framework of certain Laws He pronounced. But the chosen people keep on breaking the laws of engagement.  Animal sacrifices were then required for the atonement of the people's sin which was not a perfect redemptive plan.

Jesus Christ the saviour of the world was the answer to God's redemptive plan, the ultimate sacrifice to be done once and for all humankind. The Gospel story of grace and mercy being told by believers In Christ, is the "I stand at the door and knock ...." . Anyone who welcomes, receives and follow Him are His elected and they become the children of God. The elected have the Holy Spirit indwelling in them to guide them to purity of heart and holiness in life.

Our current journey continues with a deeper understanding and relationship with God, on going sanctification until we meet Him face to face.

Added Text

Used Corel PaintShopPro to add text to this artwork.

This flower from my garden was captured with my mobile camera and turned into a digital watercolor painting.  Used the airbrush to blur the picture behind the text so that the yellow text will come out more prominently.

Will use this jpeg image to post to my Christian friends using WhatsApp.

Digital Art

Using Corel programmes to produce the above art in water colour style.  The images are rather astonishing.  Corel is using AI in their "painting" algorithm.

Will be personalising these pictures with special notes for my patients.  Hope to produce many more artwork with pictures taken from my garden.

Starting the Year 2021

An early start at 8 am 1/1/2021with my woodworking hobby.  Have been putting off several projects.  Today managed to saw several pieces of wood to strengthen my sofa seats at home.  The wood had been recycled from a partition which was taken down at 15 Clarke Street.

This wood working bench came from my father.  He too was a woodworking hobbyist.  He used to make toy boats and air planes.  I remember he used balsa wood for the model aircrafts.

Lawn Mowing

A lot of people are into lawn tennis but I do not play tennis. So the nearest of anything lawn to me will be lawn mowing.

Great exercise. Surprised to say I did only 2000 steps and the heart rate went up to 152 bpm from a resting rate of 60 bpm. This is sort of a forced exercise as I have declined hiring a gardener to make sure I get some fresh air and sunshine during this COVID pandemic.

I have an electric grass mower and here are some tips:

My New Note 10 lite

I am surprised at how much my Note 8 has evolved into Note 10.  And yet the newest model from Samsung is Note 20!  So many new features.

There is always something new to learn.  Hence we need to open up our eyes, ears and mind to constantly receive and interpret the ever changing information coming along our way.

Happy learning in the year ahead -  2021. Happy New Year.

What is UNITY?

Unity begins with giving up your own agenda to develop a better one. It's combining your uniqueness with that of another or others to create something new. It's choosing to be more excited about the success of the team (or the other person) than your own success. It's a spirit of oneness that seeks to build up those around you and to be open and honest in the process. It is rooted in genuine caring (a commitment and action and not merely an emotion).

Such unity is founded on a healthy view of people. To have the unity we must recognise others not as things to be used but as precious individuals created for greatness, to be built up and assisted in maximising their own uniqueness - all of which allows for healthy productive institutions in our society.

Alpha in the Workplace

Had a great time learning how to facilitate online. The COVID pandemic has hastened our adaptations to online teaching.  ZOOM is my current favourite and the latest update has many new features.

Personal Schedule.

Just read about a new way to schedule.

How to schedule our priorities according to vision, purpose, life roles, and life goals?

At the beginning of the week list out the activities according to the above priorities. These activities may be related to business, personal, family and other important areas.

Then place them accordingly in a workable schedule for the week according to need and or previous neglect.

Interestingly I have never done a schedule according to life goals. Will give it a good try next week.

Life is like juggling crystal balls and rubber balls, and success depends on knowing which is which. My crystal balls are my religion, my faith, my work in this country. Everything else is a rubber ball where you can let it drop, wait for a week or month, and let it bounce back. Life is about choices and balance. A crystal ball cannot be allowed to drop or else it breaks.

Havoc Caused by COVID-19

During this COVID-19 Pandemic we have many questions to ask.  We would like to have some answers regarding the following:

What is happening?

Is suffering a punishment for sins?

Has Jesus Christ an answer for the sufferings in this pandemic?

Please read this short e-booklet.

Below are some screenshots of the old webpages.  A useful record of all the designing and learning that went will maintaining the site.

Retirement Home

This building belongs to the Perak Tuft Club. It is purpose built to be a retirement home. We have an interested church group which wishes to set up an independent living home using this premise.
