Perak Lung Health Day 2013 Part 1

Perak Lung Health Day 2013 was celebrated on Sunday 19th May at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Recreation Park (Polo Ground).  Thank God the weather was excellent.  Organisation was superb except for the mildly disorganised stall arrangements.  All in all a great and successful event.

To date we have 320 registered participants for the Walkathon.  Others can come for free health screening. 

This certicate is for the Walkathon participants.  There are 10 prizes to be won. 

Please come and learn about asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, nicotine addiction and obstructive sleep apnea.  There are 105 posters for your review.

Perak Lung Health Day 2013 is a learning, exercise and screening event for chest diseases.

A week before the Walkathon

One up for members of the Perak Chest Society.  We were at the Polo Ground this morning at 7.00 am all set to increase the number of participants for our Walkathon next Sunday.  We borrowed a makeshift counter from Abbott to display our T shirts and for a place to write.  We also brought along our 1st Prize - a foldable bicycle to encourage people to join the walkathon.  Given the number of people exercising this morning we are expecting a mammoth crowd next Sunday.  Pray for good weather next Sunday.

Asthma Lecture and Test

We celebrated World Asthma Day on Saturday 4th May at KPJ Ipoh Specialist Hospital with two lectures and a test.  Students from the two pilot Asthma Friendly Schools viz. SM Methodist (ACS) Ipoh and SMJK Ave Maria Convent participated.  Attendance was very encouraging.

Free health screening provided by KPJ Ipoh Specialist Hospital, Hospital Pantai Ipoh, Hospital Fatimah, Perak Community Specialist Hospital and BP Mobile Clinic.

All Walkathon Participants will be given a questionnaire to answer on registration.

Instructions given in the Questionnaire Paper:

1.       Please put on your number tag.

2.       ANSWER all 10 questions (True or False) below. 

3.       Return this question sheet with the answers to the Perak Chest Society stall before 7.45 am.

4.       Assemble in front of PCS stall at 7.45 am for WELCOME SPEECH.

5.       WALKATHON starts at 8.00 am sharp.

6.       WALK 3 full rounds and collect 3 coloured rubber bands from the track marshals.

7.       On arrival at the finish line please proceed to PCS stall to collect your “goodie bag”.

8.       After the walkathon you may visit the health booths and enjoy the performances.

9.       Winners will be judged according to:

a.       Best time to walk 3 full rounds.

b.      Best question score (> 80% correct answers).

10.   PRIZE giving at 10.30 am.  There are 10 prizes.

11.   Event ends at 11.00 am.
