Surprises at the Kinta Riverfront.

 At the Kinta Riverfront where the first Chinese immigrants landed by boat.  The Kinta River is a tributary of the Perak River.

A pretty eatery with a gallery of tin mining pictures of old. 

An amusement park with river crafts and electric powered cycles for rent. 

Surprising discovery that the land here is just next to Taman DR!  Here is a photo of an upcoming lakeside building and platform at Taman DR.  

Alfresco dining.  The food here must be pretty good as I could see several Grab riders waiting for their orders.

Hmm ....... a toy gallery.  Macham2 pun ada di sana!

Ah ....... a cafe. Will definitely buy coffee the next visit.

Hannah the mother of Samuel

Dr Lim Kean Ghee came to CGMC to deliver his sermon titled "The God Who Answers Prayer" based on 1 Samuel 1:1 - 28.  It was Mission Week and he was an invited speaker.  

We had a small group discussion on the sermon.  My short presentation is contained in the video above.  

Emily's Steakhouse.

At Emily's Steakhouse.  It opened just about 3 months ago.  Located at Kinta Riverfront Hotel.

Unique British decoration. 

Site was formerly a Japanese Restaurant. 

Always best to have a meal with some old friends. 

Surely the appetite improved with such a cosy dining room setup!

Dual Fusion Restaurant

Dual Fusion Restaurant is located at 32, Jalan Market, Ipoh.  Before the extensive renovation, this shophouse was once a famous curry mee shop.  

A concrete staircase leads to the first floor.  On the left is the kitchen with its interior view shut off by frosted plastic sheets. 

An extended dining area upstairs with its own food and beverage dispensing area. This shophouse is really long.

A view of the front facing windows upstairs.  They have left the old white wall tiles and wall paint untouched.

A picture taken from the first floor showing the cross beams which previously supported a "second" floor.  The old wiring and light fittings are still in place on the wall. 

Still on the first floor walking towards the back end of the building.  There is another room behind the red curtain.  This shop is really very long. 

Now back to the ground floor and the great food.  

Shake and Bake

Got myself a treat of various kinds of bread from Shake and Bake at Gopeng Road.  The bread has all sorts of designs and fillings.  They also have cakes, shakes and coffee.  A great place for tea.  Close at 10 pm. 

  

The management also organise events outdoor as evidenced by the presence of large tents near the parking lot.

Other interesting discovery outside.  A mobile hair salon well decorated with potted plants. 
  

 

Reappearance of the Iconic 2 Wheeler

The Vespa first appeared in 1968 and quickly became a timeless classic. I remembered seeing them when I was young but they were quickly replaced by the likes of Honda and Suzuki motorcycles.  Now they are back! 

Their colours make me young again. I am very keen to reuse my motorbike licence again.  Last rode a motorcycle while I was in University Malaya. Still remember the days going to watch movies with friends downtown in Kuala Lumpur and zooming between PJ Section 17 and varsity!

A Wedding Reception @ Galasa Event Centre

 

Attended a very memorable wedding reception at Galasa Event Centre at Jalan Cadwell. 

A lovely couple with very happy parents and smiling faces all around.  A great wedding ceremony and an excellent venue for the occasion.

And remember, never to forget a selfie with friends.
